Photos from our Christmas BBQ and Travelling Judge Dressage Weekend

We would like to thank Jim Hillman, In Motion Photography, for the professional photos appearing on this page. Jim took a fabulous lot of  photographs from both our Christmas BBQ and Travelling Judge Dressage Weekend .  You can view and order photographs from the "In Motion Photography" website www.inmotionphotography.net  (Please note that In Motion Photography have larger images for printing.  These images have been reduced for website optimisation)

If you weren't at the club on the 9th December then you missed out on lots of laughs and a very enjoyable day.  We had a turn-out of around 35 members, a lot of which came with dog in car !  It was quite amusing to see car after car filled with excited dogs rather than floats with horses coming through the gate.  A few people mentioned that they actually enjoyed coming with their dog more than their horse !  It that because their dogs were better behaved, we wonder?  There was however, one piddly pooch who nearly disgraced himself (and who shall remain nameless) when he decided that the excitement of the day was all too much and needed to relieve himself on the nearest leg.  Fortunately for the owner of the leg, it was well spotted and some quick moves and loud screams avoided an unpleasant drenching ! Boys will be boys!

The day started with the first round of "doggy dressage" - a simple test to warm up with and it was clear that some people were wishing that their horses could extend or passage as well as their smaller 4 legged friends.

Judith Coventry's rowdy pooch has the most amazing passage and Leoni Holman's "Barney" showed excellent extensions although he had a refusal in the second test and Leoni struggled her way through the last half due to uncontrollable laughter which was very entertaining.

Chris Judge's lab "Blubberguts" placed and was very nicely decorated.  Our beloved President, Denise, was eliminated for carrying her precious new puppy during their test much to her protest and the boos of the crowd!  Denise did however managed to do an amazing extended trot across the diagonal - pooch and all but someone did mention that they thought they saw someone waving a bottle of wine and glass at her?

Best dressed dog definately has to go to Julie Hillman's "Madison" who looked stunning in her pink fairy costume!

Jim Hillman from In Motion Photography took many photos on the day and are available for viewing on his website www.inmotionphotography.net.  This is a perfect opportunity to purchase a lovely professional photo of your dog

PAS DE DEUX

Two couples performed a human Pas De Deux and whilst Michelle Hewlett and Deb Ferguson won first prize by the narrowest of margins, Val Dominy and Gayle Stephens definately deserved first prize for endurance.

Val and Gayle performed their Pas De Deux dressed in Phantom of the Opera outfits while Michelle and Deb went for an "EI" theme complete with orange bunting.

Both teams did some lovely piaffe, extensions and tempi changes but there seemed to be a lack of impulsion half way through both the tests and spectators were hurrying to dial 000 for the Hewlett/Ferguson team who collapsed on the ground and were heard to be doing some extremely heavy breathing!  Time to cut down on the cigarettes, girls!

Val and Gayle lost their way half way through their test but the judge seemed to think that this was intentional so that they could catch their breath! They did seem to take a long time to work it out.

The Hewlett/Ferguson team must've seen this sneaky strategy and also "lost" their way with several 5m walk circles that were definitely not part of the test !

Well done to both teams who we're sure now have a lot more compassion for their 4-legged friends!
